We are delighted to have our precious porcelain keys be featured in this month’s issue of House Beautiful magazine. The timing could not have been better! As some of you might already know, we are launching a new line of pieces under the brand of {far4} (the official release is going to be at this year’s ICFF but you can get a sneak peek here on our website) and the keys are part of the collection.

They come in two different sizes – large (6.25″) and small (2.75″) in plain white and with words. Yuri and I wear small keys as pendents (‘Success‘ seems to be the most popular message with us). If you have a special word in mind, let us know! We take custom orders and might even add your message to our permanent collection!

Sharing Accessories (with your fashion forward grandpa)

Thinking bow ties brings to mind your grandpa? Well, think twice! On my last trip to Paris I was delighted to meet with designer Laurent Desgrange to learn more about his line of hand crafted bow ties. I loved the quality of Laurent’s creations and it came as no surprise that the designer himself hand sows all of the pieces. Although designed as bow ties for men, these accessories can be worn as head bands for women (each one comes with a satin ribbon), belts or, for an informal look, as a broach/clip on the lapel of a jacket. The versatility makes these bows the ultimate recession accessory – isn’t it great when you and your boyfriend can share a bow tie?

The first bow tie reminds me of the Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring 2010 collection.

We are always on the look out for interesting and unique pieces to add to our collection and a lot of times this quest takes us far from Seattle. This is why we are extra delighted to welcome a new line to our collection – jewelry by Amanda Pearl, a Seattle native, who now lives and creates in New York.

Amanda wears her vintage crystal necklace on a black gross grain ribbon from day into night by simply adjusting the length. How fabulous!

We are in love with the lightweight paper mache pearl necklaces on gross grain and organza ribbons. Kc works with the client’s furniture and accessories and reinvents the space by reorganizing the layout and combining pieces in new creative ways.

{far4) will host one of Seattle’s most digitally different artists at our store for First Thursday, from 6-9pm on October 1st. James Dykes Atwood pushes every pixel on the digital canvas of his mind after which he downloads to a remote printer in his studio. He goes over every image many times, not to just add layers or story, but to make sure that everything is correctly translated from analog to digital.

“I prefer to combine original photography with outside sources, I scan film, prints, and organic material. Even though it is viewed 2 dimensionally, the structure of photoshop is very 3D. My technique is as much sculptingpixels as it is photographic.”

We will be showing pieces that have been selected by James that represent his technique as an artist but also as a story teller. The artist might be in attendance but his assistant will be there to explain his work as well as answer any questions. We will also have white wine and Theo chocolate. Stop by to sip some wine and take in some spectacular pieces by James Dykes Atwood.
